It all started with a commissioned drawing. Sebastian drew a largemouth bass chasing a pumpkinseed for a client who had seen some of his previous works. It turned out to be one of his best designs, so we entered his art into the Wildlife Forever Fish Art Contest and we were delighted when he placed 1st place for the second year in a row. In addition to getting a certificate, like he did last year, it quickly turned into something much bigger when Sebastian received an unexpected email from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). They wanted to feature his artwork on the 2025 Florida freshwater fishing license hard card, a distinction that places his name alongside none other than world-renowned marine artist Guy Harvey, whose artwork is featured on the saltwater card.
For a young artist with a passion for both creativity and the outdoors, the recognition was monumental. Having his art featured on a license carried by thousands of anglers across the state is an honor usually reserved for seasoned professionals. It also marks Sebastian as part of a very select group of artists who have contributed to Florida’s fishing legacy.
The story didn’t stop there. Sebastian’s achievement led to an invitation to ICAST, the world’s largest fishing convention held in Orlando, Florida. Normally reserved for industry insiders, brands, and professionals, ICAST is the epicenter of innovation and influence in the fishing world. For Sebastian, being included at such a prestigious was a huge boost to his motivation and interest in participating in the fishing community. He was able to talk with the manufacturers of his favorite fishing brands, and meet influencers that he had seen only in videos.
From contest winner to featured artist to ICAST guest, Sebastian’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. His story highlights how art, passion, and opportunity can align to create something truly remarkable. This experience opened a lot of doors for Sebastian and we are doing everything to support him and help him on his way.
