In October of 2023 I entered the Space Coast Art Festival. This festival is mostly for professional artists, however they also had kids section divided by grade and many schools were participating.
When we brought my art we didn’t realize that we also had to bring a way to mount it, which we didn’t. So my dad came up with the idea to mount it on my skimboard which we had in the car. This turned out to be a great idea because it looked really cool. I entered 3 of my drawings, some roosters, a Florida Keys slam and my Everglades composition. There were a lot of really awesome paintings and drawings I had to compete with, so I wasn’t sure I would win anything.
The final day of the festival we got a phone call that I had won a prize. We went back for the awards ceremony and I was so happy to find that I was given 2nd place and some prize money! It felt so good to win something, and I also met a lot of people who really liked my art and wanted to congratulate me.
